A fashion show, dance and music performances marked the high-profile launch of trailer of Shah Rukh Khan-starrer 'Happy New Year', which will hit theatres in Diwali, here this evening.

The Farah Khan-directed film, described as a "musical heist" by the makers, also stars Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, Sonu Sood, Vivaan Shah and Jackie Shroff.

"There are three essential elements in the film - dance, music and glamour - which we will present to you all," Shah Rukh told reporters ahead of the trailer launch.

The star-studded event began with a dance performance by a popular dance group, Fictitious, followed by live music performance by Vishal-Shekhar, the duo who has composed music for one of the most awaited films of the year.

A fashion show by ace designer Manish Malhotra added glamour to the event. Dressed in Indian attires - long salwar suit, sharara, kurta and pyjama - 14 models walked the ramp for Malhotra. After the models were done, team members of 'Happy New Year' took to the runway.

The film's theme song, "Indiawale", was sung by Vishal -Shekhar even as dancers (from Fictitious) waved the national flag.

It was Shah Rukh who first walked the ramp in navy blue kurta and black pyjama followed by Shah, Sood, Irani, Abhishek, Deepika, Shroff and Farah.

After this, the 3.16 minute trailer was unveiled and later the team of 'Happy New Year' came to the stage wearing alphabetic jackets to form the word 'Indiawale'.

Farah said she was excited to see the trailer. "I am very excited to see the trailer of any film. Trailer creates first impression and it's important we get it right," she said.

Shah Rukh said he was not nervous but tense ahead of the release of the film, produced by his company Red Chillies Entertainment and distributed by Yash Raj Films.

Also, perhaps for the first time, the lead actors of a film changed their original Twitter handle names to those of their screen characters.

Deepika, Shah Rukh, Abhishek, Sood, Irani and Shah have changed their twitter handle names to Mohini, Charlie, Nandu, Jag, Tammy and Rohan respectively.
