Makkar today said the reason behind Paramjit Singh Sarna's defeat in DSGMC elections was his failure to implement amended version of Nanakshahi calendar in Delhi Gurdwaras.
Makkar, speaking to reporters at a function here, said the former Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee president was rejected by Sikhs as he did not implement the amended version of Nanakshahi calendar in Gurdwaras of Delhi
All Sikhs should follow the directions of Akal Takht but Sarna did not implement the amended version of the calendar which was released by Akal Takht, he said.
The SGPC President said there was confusion regarding two Nanakshahi calendars not only in India but even among Sikhs in Pakistan.
Shiromani Akali Dal-Delhi (SAD-D) led by Paramjit Singh Sarna was defeated in the DSGMC, as the SAD-Badal won 37 of the 46 elected seats after the January 27 polls.
