Father, 2 sons booked under Goonda Act

A person and his two sons were booked under the stringent Goonda Act for allegedly duping several persons of Rs 50 lakh on the promise of getting them jobs in Railways, police said today.

The accused were arrested yesterday and booked under the Goonda Act, and are currently lodged in Puzhal jail, they said.

As per the investigations, Janardhanan, an employee at the railway canteen in Royapuram area here and his sons convinced people they could get them jobs in Railways. Several persons paid them upto Rs five lakh, after which they fled the city.

The three were arrested in 2012 for similar crimes and had later come out on bail. However since 2014, they were involved in similar frauds and had collected funds of Rs 50 lakh, they added.
