A 73-year-old AIADMK functionary and his daughter were today found murdered at their house in Kumarapalayam near here, police said.
N S Krishnaswamy, AIADMK's Kumarapalayam 30th ward president and a powerloom owner, stayed with his 50-year-old daughter, Maheswari at a house near his workshop.
When his elder son, staying in the locality, visited him today, he found the house not locked from inside and his father lying in a pool of blood at the doorsteps with his throat slit and his sister also murdered in a similar manner inside, police said.
Tamil Nadu Industries Minister P Thangamani visited the hospital where the bodies were kept, to pay his last respects.
Namakkal Superintendent of Police Santhosh Kumar visited the spot. Sniffer dogs and fingerprint experts were pressed into service, police said.
Police suspect the hand of Krishnaswamy's younger son who reportedly was not in good terms with his father.
