A local court today sentenced a 55-year-old man to three years imprisonment for forging a school document in a bid to seek relief for his son, undergoing life imprisonment in a murder case.
'Koolai' Ibrahim, along with six others, was arrested in 1997 in connection with a murder case and was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2001.
Though he went for appeal in Madras High Court against the verdict, it was upheld, following which he petitioned the Supreme Court.

The apex court then directed the police to investigate the matter, which found that Razak had got a birth certificate from the City Corporation by forging documents.
Razak was arrested on charges of cheating and forgery.
Judicial Magistrate C Vediyappan awarded three years imprisonment to Razak, besides imposing a fine of Rs 10,000.
