A labourer working in the Ranichera tea garden of Mal block in the district was arrested today for killing his daughter in a fit of rage and in an inebriated state.
Officers at Mal police station said, 38-year-old Raju Benia had come home late last night in an inebriated state and after a quarrel with his daughter over his drinking habit, he beat her up with a stick and repeatedly kicked her.
"Reshma Benia (13), a class VIII student, succumbed to her injuries. The body has been sent to Jalpaiguri hospital for post mortem and Raju Benia has been arrested," said an officer.
