The father of the 16-year-old boy who allegedly committed suicide at a police outpost in Udhamsingh Nagar district has demanded a probe by a neutral agency to investigate the "cover up" of his son's "murder" by Uttarakhand police.

Mohammad Yamin, father of Ziauddin who was found hanging in the storeroom of the outpost, said he had no hope of justice from Uttarakhand police and only an investigation by a neutral agency could bring out the truth in the matter.

Ziauddin, who was under police interrogation on the charge of playing a role in the elopement of a neighbourhood girl, allegedly hanged himself at the outpost for the "disgrace" caused to his family by him landing up in police custody.

However, his father has been alleging from day one that his son was tortured to death and the police was trying to cover up the fact.

Four police personnel including the chowki incharge have already been suspended in connection with the incident and the probe into the matter has been handed over to Nainital police, US Nagar SSP Senthil Abudai Krishnaraj said.

Nainital police inspector Bipin Chandra Pant who is investigating the case, said he has inspected the place where the suicide took place and the rope used has also been seized.
