The father of a Samajwadi Party leader enjoying the rank and status of a Minister of State in the Uttar Pradesh government has been accused of threatening a police team which had gone to his village in the district to arrest four people for alleged cow slaughter.

According to police, Dharampal Chaudhary, father of SP leader Kuldeep Ujjwal, allegedly threatened a sub-inspector (SI) and two constables that he would strip them of their uniforms when they had gone to Mavikala village on Wednesday to arrest four people accused of cow slaughter.

Ujjawal is Chairman of UP government's Remote Sensing Application Centre and enjoys the rank and status of a Minister of State in the state government.

Though the police team returned empty handed, the SI registered the incident in the general diary maintained at the police station, police said.

The matter came to light after a local videographed the incident in his mobile phone and forwarded the clip to media.

When contacted, Superintendent of Police Jitendra Shahi said they had come to know about the incident and an inquiry into the matter had been handed over to ASP Vidyasagar Mishra.

Meanwhile, Ujjawal refuted the allegations against his father and said that the people accused of cow slaughter belonged to a Muslim family residing in the village.

He claimed that some people in the village, who wanted the family to leave, were behind the incident.
