Father, son arrested for duping neighbours in Punjab

A father-son duo was arrested today for allegedly duping people to the tune of lakhs of rupees on the pretext of sending them abroad in Ramamandi area here, police said.

According to a complaint lodged by the victims, Suraj Prakash and Lovelypal, the accused, Deshraj, his son Rajkumar and daughter-in-law Rani, were their neighbours, police said.

The three accused, who are from Kapurthala district, duped them of lakhs of rupees on the pretext of sending them to a foreign country, they said.

While the father-son duo has been nabbed, Rani could not be arrested, they said.

The family used to rent houses in various localities and after gaining confidence of their neighbours, would take money from them on the pretext of sending them to foreign countries, they said.
 

After getting the money, they used to flee from the locality, they said.

The accused are being interrogated, police added.

The family has earlier been booked for similar frauds in Ludhiana, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur and Kapurthala districts of the state, they said.
