Father-son duo on pilgrimage among those killed in mishap

Two pilgrims, including a father and his son were today killed and three others injured after a speeding car hit them, near the foothills of Gabbar mountain in the temple town of Ambaji in Banaskantha district of Gujarat, police said.

"Two people were killed, while three others sustained injuries after an overspeeding car hit them at Gabbar foothills area in Ambaji," police Sub-Inspector R S Damor said.

The deceased have been identified as Mayaji Thakor and his son Rahulji Thakor of Kotda village in Patan district, Damor said.

The incident occurred after the car's driver lost control over the steering and knocked down the group of pedestrians, who were returning after paying homage at Ambaji temple here, he said.
 

The father and his son were killed on the spot, while three others who sustained injuries, were rushed to the nearby Ambaji hospital, he said.

The car driver fled the spot after the mishap, Damor said, adding that a police complaint has been registered against the unidentified person and probe is on.
