Father-son duo shot dead over land dispute

A father-son duo were today shot dead by a police constable and his associates over a land dispute in the district's Kahlawali village, police said.

Bhagwan Singh and his son Yodha Singh were shot dead by constable Parminder Singh and his associates. Parminder is the son of a former sarpanch of Kahlawali village, Virsa Singh.

Two persons were also injured in the firing, police said, adding that a case had been registered against eight persons over the incident.

Police said that there was a dispute between Virsa and Bhagwan over a plot of land where both parties used to dump garbage.
 

Cases have been registered against Parminder, Virsa, Gurnam Singh and Santokh Singh (both brothers of Virsa), Simranjit Kaur (Virsa's wife) along with Sucha Singh, Sukhwinder Singh and Gurdev Singh under various sections of the IPC and the Arms Act.

No arrests, however, have been made so far.

The injured have been admitted in hospital where their condition is said to be stable, police added.
