Father, son killed in road accident in J&K

Two persons were killed when a truck in which they were travelling plunged into a gorge in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said today.

The mishap occurred when the vehicle, on its way to Kishtwar from Thathri area of Doda district, skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge at Phagumar on the highway yesterday late evening.

Police and other rescue teams rushed the victims to a district hospital where they were declared brought dead.

The deceased have been identified as Mohammad Iqbal Sheikh (40) and his son Atif Hussain (7).

Senior Congress leader Inderwal G M Saroori has expressed grief over the accident and demanded immediate ex-gratia relief of Rs. 1 lakh each to the next of kins of the deceased.
