A quality control manager of Food Corporation of India (FCI) has been arrested by CBI sleuths from neighbouring Bhandara district for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 from a trader.
Accused Sanjeev Shamrao Desale demanded the sum allegedly from Purushottam Durugkar for certification of rice supplied by him as per the specification.
Desale was deputed from the office of General Manger FCI, Mumbai for a period of 89 days for certification of rice quality in various districts in Maharashtra at the time of rice procurement.
The accused was arrested in Tumsar last evening, the anti-corruption unit of the CBI said in a release.
