An Assistant Commissioner of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) was today caught by ACB while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1,000 here.

The officer, Gulab Gore, was trapped on the basis of a complaint filed by a grocery shop owner at Mul town in the district, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) said in a release.

The FDA licence of the complaint's shop had expired in May 2014. He visited the FDA office here for renewal of his licence on January 7 and applied for it by paying the mandatory administrative fees of Rs 6,000.

But Gore allegedly demanded Rs 10,000 bribe to issue the renewal certificate from the complainant. The bribe amount was brought down to Rs 3,000 after negotiation. The shop owner paid Rs 2,000 to the accused on the spot and promised to shell out the rest after he gets the certificate.

The shop owner lodged a complaint against Gore with ACB, which caught him while accepting the remaining amount in his office, the release added.
