FDA officials raid and seize contraband worth Rs 2.58 lakh

Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Konkan Range officials intercepted two vehicles near Sai Palace Hotel on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High way today in the Mira-Bhayander area and seized banned gutka, scented tobacco and pan masala valued at Rs 2.58 lakh.

Giving details of the seizure, Joint Commissioner FDA P M Raut said that complaints have been registered at the Kashimira police station against three people who were allegedly transporting the banned goods in vehicles.

Seized brands include Rajnigandha, RMD, Black Label, Kamla Prasad, Rajashree, Double Black Premium, V-1 and Vimal, he said.

Those arrested have been identified as Atmaram Keshav Bansode (36), Nisar Ahmed Shaikh (39) and Sachin Manohar Rane (30).
