FDA raids godown and seizes banned gutka worth Rs 4.70 lakh

Food & Drug Administration (FDA) officials raided a godown in the powerloom town of Bhiwandi today evening and seized banned gutka worth Rs 4.70 lakhs.

FDA Joint Commissioner (Konkan Division) P M Raut told PTI here tonight that, acting on a tip-off, officials raided a godown belonging to Patel Freight Carriers, in Khandagale Estate of Purna village in Bhiwandi and seized banned gutka comprising popular brands like Rajababu, Raj Kolhapuri, Sagar and Bola Zarda.

Two people have been taken into custody and offences under the FDA Act were registered against them at the Narpoli police station, he said.

Further investigations into the case is being carried out jointly by FDA and police officials, he said.
