FDDI targets to train 1.20 lakh youth every year

Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI), aims at train 1,20,000 youths every year.

Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today reviewed the functioning of FDDI. "FDDI target is to train 1,20,000 fresh and unemployed youths every year with 100 per cent placement for all," it said.

It plays a major role in filling the skill gap of the footwear and leather sector.

The institute is key to the success of 'Make in India and it has achieved remarkable success in skill development, the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) said in a tweet.

It has so far trained about 1.84 lakh fresh and unemployed youth, it added.
