Fed of lonely life, couple commits suicide

Apparently fed up of their lonely life and prolonged illness, a couple allegedly committed suicide by hanging themselves from the ceiling at their residence in East Godavari district, police said today.

The incident took place last night near Andhra Pradesh Paper Mill limits here when the two identified as Venkataswara Rao (53) and wife Suryaprabhavati (47) hanged themselves from the ceiling, Rajahmundry Three Town Inspector P Ramakoteswara Rao told PTI.

A suicide note recovered from Rao's pocket said that they had two daughters, who are married now and hence, they were feeling all alone.

Also, they were suffering from ill-health and depression for a long time following which they decided to end their lives, it said.
 

Rao was working at the Paper Mill in the technical department and had recently joined work after a leave of six months.

The bodies were shifted to Rajahmundry Government General Hospital, police added.
