Federal Bank, National Australia Bank tie up for remittance

Private lender Federal Bank has partnered with National Australia Bank to provide its NRI customers in Australia inward remittance facility at a discounted rate.

"Federal Bank has entered into tie-up arrangement with National Australia Bank for facilitating online inward remittance to India at discounted rate, for its NRI customers based in Australia," Federal Bank said in a statement.

To avail the discount, customers need to register their National Australia Bank account details with Federal Bank.

"The cost is around one-third of the normal international fund transfer charges," Head of Business and Products, Federal Bank Antu Joseph said.

Ulka Advertising appoints Swati Bhattacharya as CCO * FCB Ulka Advertising today said it has appointed Swati Bhattacharya as Chief Creative Officer (COO) of the company.
 

Bhattacharya was earlier associated with JWT India, where she spent 22 years.

GroupM appoints Rohit Suri as Chief Talent Officer, South Asia * Media investment company GroupM today said it has appointed Rohit Suri as its Chief Talent Officer for South Asia.

Suri will succeed Gaurav Hirey and report to CVL Srinivas, Chief Executive Officer of GroupM South Asia and Angela Ryan, Chief Talent Office for GroupM APAC, the company said in a statement.

Lukup Media appoints Mukund Sharma as Executive VP * Converged TV and Internet access provider Lukup Media has appointed Mukund Sharma as its Executive Vice President.

Sharma has been associated with leading broadcasters like CNBC TV18, Ten Sports and Tata Sky and will be heading the content, services and commerce verticals at Lukup Media, the company said in a statement today.

Vedanta sets Guinness world record for mass plantation

* Mining conglomerate Vedanta today said its subsidiary Talwandi Sabo Power (TSPL) has set the Guinness World Record for planting 2,08,751 saplings at a single location in less than an hour.

Guinness World Records acknowledged this achievement by TSPL on December 17, 2015, by presenting a certificate. The mass plantation drive was organised in Mansa (Punjab) on October 30, 2015, Vedanta said in a statement.

TSPL has also set benchmark for environmental compliance by developing 222 acre of green cover (March 2015) around the plant's periphery as well as installing Zero Discharge Unit and Sewage Treatment Plant among other measures, it added.

SMS Pharmaceuticals fully aquires SMS Lifesciences India * SMS Pharmaceuticals today announced that it has fully acquired SMS Lifesciences India.

The "company had made SMS Lifesciences India Pvt Ltd its wholly-owned subsidiary by acquiring its 100 per cent equity shares (i.E. Rs. 1,00,000/- paid up share capital) as on April 1, 2016," SMS Pharmaceuticals Limited said in a NSE filing.
Alibaba launches 'face-lock' security app

* Chinese giant Alibaba Group has launched Privacy Knight, an app-lock with 'face-lock' feature that will help users protect their privacy from intruders.

Using Privacy Knight, users will be able to unlock their protected apps through a 1-second-selfie, Alibaba said in a statement.

"Face Lock is set to change the way people protect their privacy. It's the next big thing after fingerprint lock," Ebrahim Popat, Country Manager of 9Apps, an Android Marketplace within Alibaba Mobile Business Group, said.

Myntra appoints Manpreet Ratia to head HR, new initiatives * Fashion etailer Myntra has appointed Manpreet Ratia as its Chief People Officer and Head of New Initiatives.

In his new role, he will be driving key HR functions with a focus on talent acquisition and retention for various levels and verticals, Myntra said in a statement.

Ratia joins Myntra from Amazon (India) where he was Director and Head of Last Mile Operations. Previously, he has worked with Citibank, GE, Nestle India and Oberoi Hotels.

UpGrad, IIIT-Bangalore partner with Uber and Gramener * IIIT-Bangalore University and UpGrad, the online higher education platform founded by Ronnie Screwvala and Mayank Kumar, have announced their partnership with Uber and Gramener to strengthen their post-graduate diploma programme in Data Analytics.

Through this partnership, UpGrad aims to make their Data Analytics programme academically rigorous and industry relevant, UpGrad said in a statement.
