Seeking to hit back at Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar over his remarks that the party would welcome Narendra Modi to sell tea at AICC meetings, a Federation named after him today started a tea stall here today to serve as a propaganda platform for BJP.

"With the controversial remarks made by Mani Shankar Aiyar and Samajwadi Party MP Naresh Agrawal against Modi attracting severe criticism from various BJP leaders, Namo Peravai decided to use tea stalls themselves to campaign against the Congress," local BJP leader Sasiraman said.

The stall employees would hand out pamphlets to visitors carrying messages about Modi government's "achievements" in Gujarat, policies of the BJP and Modi's schemes for the overall development of the country, he said.

The tea stall owner had been advised to maintain the quality of tea so that it would attract more general public.

"Tea stalls will form part of the party's election campaign strategy" they said.

Aiyar had on Jan 17 ridiculed Modi's prime ministerial ambitions and said he was welcome to sell tea at an AICC meet here. He said he can promise that the Gujarat Chief Minister would never become the Prime Minister of the country.

"I give you my word that in 21st Century Narendra Modi will never become Prime Minister of the country. ...But if he wants to distribute tea here, we will find a place for him," Aiyar had said at the venue of the AICC meeting here.

The Congress leader had ruled out an apology for his controversial remarks and refuted charges it reflected arrogance or that it mocks the simple origins of Modi.
