Federation urges govt to control price rise in raw materials

Licensed Engineers and Supervisors Federation (LENSFED),Kozhikode today urged the Union Government and the State Government to intervene and protect the construction sector facing severe crisis.

Speaking to mediapersons here today, K K Sudheesh Kumar, Kozhikode District Secretary and K Salim said that the sector was facing difficulties as a result of price rise in the raw materials and also due to unscientific enviroment laws.

The recent hike in freight charges in train, prices of petroleum products including diesel and petrol had severely affected the transportation of goods through roads and train, he said, adding this had affected Kerala the most.
 

Alleging that the government had failed in controlling the private cement companies he said that the price for one bag of cement was increased by Rs 50 during the last one week.

Taking into consideration the prevailing situtation in the construction sector the government should take urgent remedial measures to protect the sector, he said.

The federation with the support of the workers and public would resort to agitation, he said.
