The city unit of BJP has called off a function where party president Rajnath Singh and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi were to be felicitated.

Mumbai BJP chief Raj Purohit said Rajnath Singh asked the event to be cancelled in view of the severe drought that has affected many parts of Maharashtra.

"Singh was to be felicitated upon his appointment as the party president, while Modi was to be felicitated for his third successive victory in the Gujarat Assembly elections," Purohit said on the ceremony which was scheduled for March 17.
