Female-led 'Greatest American Hero' reboot lands at ABC

A female-led reboot of the '80s series "Greatest American Hero" has landed at the ABC studios.

The new version will have an Indian-American woman at its centre, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The original series, which debuted on the channel in 1981, featured a white male actor, William Katt in the lead role.

The modern take will be a half-hour comedy remake in a single-camera set-up.

The story will follow Meera, a 30-year-old Indian- American woman from Cleveland, whose talents are limited to drinking tequila and karaoke. Then, some aliens entrust her with a super suit to protect the planet and the world is at stake.
 

"Fresh Off the Boat" writer-producer Rachna Fruchbom will pen the pilot.
