A woman Naxal, carrying a reward of Rs 8 lakh and wanted for the 2013 'Darbha ghati' killings of politicians in Bastar, has surrendered before the CRPF in Chhattisgarh.

Maoist Budhri alias Geeta, who worked in the Left Wing cadre for about seven years, laid down her arms before a CRPF battalion in Jagdalpur in south Bastar region yesterday, the CRPF said.

"She worked with the People's Liberation Guerrilla Army, active in Bastar region, and had participated in at least four major incidents of violence where 43 security personnel and 17 politicians have been killed," a senior official said.

This includes the 'Darbha Ghati' attack of May 2013 where 17 Congress politicians were killed in a Naxal ambush.

She carried a bounty of Rs 8 lakh, which was declared by police and security forces for her apprehension.
