A boundary wall will be erected after the work of putting wires around the acquired land is completed, an official spokesperson said.

Samples of soil from the acquired land have been sent to the laboratory for testing, following which the construction work for the project will begin, he added.

The total area of the project is 18 square kilometres and includes land in the villages of Gorakhpur, Badopal and Kajalhedi in Fatehabad, he said, adding the plant will be known as the 'Gorakhpur Haryana Anu Vidyut Pariyojna'.

The proposed power plant project had witnessed stiff resistance from farmers in the past, who had raised objections citing security concerns.

They were later convinced by the state government about the future benefits of the project and were given compensation.
