Ferocious giant waves battered
several coastal villages in this district forcing the fishermen not to venture into the sea for the past three days.
The fishermen at Ullam village in western coast had migrated to their relatives' houses as sea water entered their village.
The fishermen had been warned not to venture into the sea in the coastal areas including Kanayakumari and Ramanathapuram.
In Chinnathurai 50 houses were damaged by the high waves.
