With the rise in road
accidents, the Safety Awareness for Everyone (Safe), a social organization here, will organize a "Safety Mela" at Keenan Stadium here on January 16.
The Mela, in association with different schools and Corporate Safety of Tata Steel, will be held to instill awareness among the student community as well as their parents about all aspects of safety, SAFE Chairperson, Ruchi Narendran said.

Narendran said over 4000 people including students from 70 schools will take part in the day-long mela, which is considered a unique effort by the private steel major in Jamshedpur to awaken the safety consciousness among the student fraternity.
She said the mela will focus on different aspects of safety such as road safety, safety at home, rail safety, cyber safety, domestic safety, personal safety, self defence and disaster management and safety evacuation through stalls, nukkad nataks (street corner play), games, safety gaget walk (fashion show), posters, safety kite flying competition etc.
The kite flying competition will comprised of slogans by students and will be judged to felicitate the best slogan, she said.
The target of "zero fatality" remained a key area of emphasis for both SAFE and Tata Steel, she said.
The Chief of Corporate Safety, Tata Steel, Shyam Sunder emphasized the need to follow safety measures to minimize the fatality.
