The Company of Master Mariners of India (CMMI), a professional body set up with the purpose of developing and promoting traditions and standards of the Merchant Navy, today held a discussion here on how to prevent a boat tragedy like the one occurred yesterday could be prevented.
It came out in the discussion that fibre glass boats with life boat like construction which make them unsinkable in any circumstances could have been used for such occasion.
Pentagon Marine Group, an important member of the International marine body headed by Captain Sunil Pandey, a native of Bihar, was a leading member in the discussion held in Mumbai.

Pentagon Marine Group claimed that despite fulfilling all the formalities for starting a marine course institution at Bihta in Patna district almost two years back, the clearance to the project has yet not been granted by the government.
"We could have trained hundreds of youths by now in marine safety which could have been of great help during such an incident," Pandey said in the statement issued by Pentagon Marine Group, which runs an institution in Mumbai.
