FICN notes seized; 2 held

Two persons were arrested and fake Indian currency notes with face value of Rs 5.89 lakh seized from them by the sleuths of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in East Champaran district of Bihar today.

"We had prior information that the two were travelling in a bus from Patna to their native place at Areraj in East Champaran with a consignment of FICN brought from Bangladesh. They arrived in Patna from Malda in West Bengal by train and then took a private bus," a DRI official said.

The bus was intercepted on Muzaffarpur-Motihari highway under Chakia police station and the two men were arrested with fake currency notes.
 

The two arrested persons have been allegedly involved in a fake currency racket for quite some time and confessed to have brought fake notes worth Rs 1.5 crore in the past three months, he said.
