A FIFA team today visited Goa as part of its ongoing tour to inspect venues suggested by the All India Football Federation (AIFF), for hosting matches of the U-17 World Cup to be held in India in 2017.

The two-member team of Inaki Alvarez and Vijay Parthasarthy, FIFAs Director of Competitions and Competitions Manager, respectively, visited half a dozen grounds in Goa including Nehru Stadium.

"We have inspected half a dozen grounds in Goa and are satisfied with their condition," Alvarez told reporters.

"After inspecting all the eight venues which AIFF has selected, we will submit the report to the FIFA governing body and after their feedback, which is a long process, we will announce the six venues next year," Alvarez said.

The local and central governments, along with the organising football committee, is supporting us which is necessary in conducting this tournament, he added.

The FIFA team yesterday visited Pune and will be going to Mumbai tomorrow. Other venues are Bangalore, Kerala, Kolkata, Delhi and Shillong.
