Fifth accused held in alleged cow slaughtering case

The fifth accused involved in an unauthorised cow slaughtering racket operational in Rajasthan's Alwar district was arrested, police claimed today.

Govindgarh police have arrested Sattar Khan from Bharatpur district who along with Shakil and his family members was allegedly involved in unauthorised cow slaughtering and selling beef, police said.

The accused was arrested yesterday from the Bharatpur district, they said.

It is the fifth arrest in the case, SHO, Govindgarh police station, Dara Singh said.

On July 31, police had seized nearly 220 cow skins, 82 buffaloes and 45 goats from a slaughter house suspected to be carrying out unauthorised activities, officials said.

Shakil Qureshi, his wife, mother and sister-in-law were later arrested for slaughtering a cow at their residence and nearly 40 kg suspected beef was seized from them, they added.

 

Based on the information provided by the arrested accused, Salim and then Sattar Khan were arrested, officials said.
