After the production date was pushed back a month, the big-screen adaptation of E L James' best selling novel 'Fifty Shades of Grey' officially began shooting this weekend in Vancouver.

James, the author of the erotic trilogy, took to photo-sharing website Instagram and shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse on set, reported E! online.

"Action!" James captioned an Instagram snapshot, featuring a slate during the first roll, the 25th scene and the first take on December 1.

Film's producer Dana Brunetti re-tweeted James' picture and added "And we're off."

Screenwriter Kelly Marcel also weighed in on the very first day of filming, tweeting her well-wishes.

"Thinking of team 50 today-- E LJames, Dana Brunetti Michael De Luca. Good luck guys."

The film is scheduled to hit theaters on Feb 13, 2015.
