Acting tough, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia today directed the education department to file an "FIR" against private schools which have submitted "wrong details" to the government regarding EWS quota admissions.
"In a meeting with education department officials, the Deputy CM directed them to file cases of fraud and under relevant sections of IPC against private schools which have furnished wrong information regarding EWS admissions to the government," a senior government official said.
The move follows the recent visit of the department's officials to private schools during which it came to light that some schools had furnished "wrong information" regarding admissions under EWS category.
Reports prepared by several teams of the department in this regard were tabled in the meeting, the official said.
Private schools in the city are bound to reserve 25 per cent seats for EWS students.
Sisodia, who also holds the education portfolio, directed private schools to provide uniforms, books to EWS students forthwith and said schools should reimburse the money to those who have already bought the same.
He also directed necessary action against "errant" schools which have not only hiked fees but also "compelled" students to buy books from private publishers.
Delhi government has directed private schools not to increase fee without its prior approval.
