Leader of Opposition in Rajasthan Assembly Rameshwar Dudi today asked the Union government to file a review petition in the Supreme Court to justify reservation for Jats in government jobs.

Dudi said that the community was surprised by the apex court's judgement of quashing the decision of reservation for Jats in Other Backward Classes (OBC) and said the Centre should file a review petition.

"It appears that the government did not represent in the court effectively which led to the judgement. Jats are dependent on agriculture and are backward hence, deserve reservation benefits. The government should file a review petition to protect Jats reservation," he said here.

The Supreme Court yesterday set aside the notification issued by the former UPA government to include Jats in the Central list of OBC for according benefits of reservation to them.
