Two associations of the cash-rich Tamil cinema industry have decided to boycott "any person" who critiques movies and professionals "beyond limits."
The decision was arrived at a meeting of the Tamil Film Producers Council and the PRO Union Monday, where it was also decided to initiate legal action against those making "demeaning" remarks about films, male and female actors, directors and producers.
According to a joint statement issued later, the meeting also discussed the "uncontrollable expenses" incurred by producers during press meets.
"Any person critiquing films under the garb of criticism, actors and actresses, directors and producers beyond limits and in a demeaning manner will not be invited to any Tamil film related programmes," it said.
A resolution was adopted to this effect, it said, adding legal action would also be initiated on such matters.
