Film festival about differently abled people

A film festival sensitising people about differently abled people and their problems was organised here today.

The 'We Care International Film Festival' organised with association with Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, United Nations Information Centre for India and Bhutan, UNESCO at the India International Centre here showcased 12 award winning films and documentaries from across the country.

"The festival is organised to sensitise people about the problems of differently abled people. This also gives platforms to films that are not commercially viable," Stuti Kacker, secretary, department of Disability Affairs, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, said.

The festival is the only travelling film festival on disability issues in entire Asia Pacific region.
 

The festival is also showcased in educational institutions across the globe to create awareness and sensitise youth on various disability issues through cinema.

This year the festival received 58 short films and documentaries from India and abroad and a preview committee shortlisted 31 short films and documentaries for screening at the 11th edition.
