"My documentary 'Bitter Seeds' reveals bitter truth. Every 30 minutes, a farmer in the country commits suicide because he no longer can provide for his family.

"It takes the viewers to a village at the centre of suicide crisis region in Vidarbha to explore what's behind the shocking statistics," Micha told reporters after screening the documentary film in some of the remote villages in Pandharkawda tehsil of the district.

The idea to make the documentary was the brainchild of Emilie Joans of Indian origin with the cooperation of the Goa-based 'Video Volunteers' organisation.

The documentary tries to explore the controversy whether bio-technology is the only way to provide sufficient food for the world's growing population or the genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are driving small-scale farmers off the land.

Peled's 'Store Wars: When Walmart Comes to Town' had won Best Documentary award at the San Francisco International Film Festival in 2000.

His 2005 documentary 'China Blue' had won him critical acclaim at film festivals.
