Former Siliguri Police Commissioner K Jayaraman was appointed as the Deputy Inspector General (Modernisation and Coordination), six months after was sent on compulsory waiting, as 54 IPS officials were today transferred in a major reshuffle in West Bengal.
Jayaraman was removed from the post of Police Commissioner and was on a compulsory waiting since December last following the arrest of then Malda District Magistrate Godala Kiran Kumar in connection with alleged financial scam under the Siliguri Jalpaiguri Development Authority (SJDA).
The decision was announced by the state government after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee okayed the reshuffle in IPS cadre in which 54 senior officers from the rank of IG to Additional Superintendent of Police were transferred.

The DIG (Organisation) Shankar Dutta has been transferred as DIG CID (Special), DIG Presidency Range Anand Kumar has been transferred as DIG Traffic, DIG Murshidabad Range Ashok Kumar Prasad has been transferred as DIG IPS Cell, and DIG Traffic Ajoy Kumar Ghosh has been transferred as DIG Midnapore Range, they said.
Major among 21 senior IPS officials transferred on promotion were Dilip Kumar Adak from DC Traffic to DIG CID(O), Basab Dasgupta from DC Kolkata Armed Police 4th Battalion to DIG (Home Guards), Ashok Kumar Biswas from DC Reserve Force to DIG (Organisation), Subrata Kumar Mitra from DC South West (Behala Division) to DIG Presidency Range, Milan Kanta Das from SRP Howrah to DIG (Administration), Kallol Ganai from DC Headquarters at Barrackpore to DIG Murshidabad Range and Rabindra Nath Mukhopadhyay from SP WBPRB to DIG Railways.
DC Special Task Force (STF) Bastab Baidya has been transferred to DC North Division, while DC Port V Solomon Nesakumar has been asked to take over as DC Traffic.
DC North Gourav Sharma has been transferred to DC South East Division replacing Debabrata Das, who has been asked to take over as Commandant state Armed Police 3rd Battalion, they added.
