In a daring loot, three masked men allegedly stabbed a city-based finance company staff here, leaving him seriously injured and decamped with Rs 17 lakh, police said today.

Sunil Lalwani, 30, a staffer of a city-based finance company - Ambaji Enterprise - was stabbed on Monday evening by three unidentified motorbike-borne men, who looted Rs 17 lakh from him," Police Inspector A B Nakum of Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) in the city said.

DCB has registered a case against the three unknown men under the charges of loot and causing injury.

The incident occured when Lalwani, who has been working in Ambaji Enterprise for eight years, withdrew money from Punjab National Bank near Panchnath party plot area here and was driving his scooter to the finance company at Dhebar road area.

On his way to office, three unidentified men chased him for a while and suddenly overtook him, due to which Lalwani fell on the road, said Nakum.

One of the three bike-riders then started stabbing him and another one snatched away his bag containing Rs 17 lakh cash and fled from the spot, said Nakum.

Though the three assailants had covered their faces with hankerchiefs, but the entire incident was recorded in a CCTV installed in a bungalow having its location just in front of the crime-scene, which can give a clue to police to nab them, he said.

Further investigation is on, Nakum added.
