Press Trust of India New Delhi

The party expressed serious concern at the "attempts of the Finance Ministry and PMO to take retrograde steps in economy, including the revision of Vodafone retrospective tax", saying such a move is to satisfy the corporate houses and multinationals "at the cost of the nation".

"These attempts have intensified after the finance ministry was taken over by the Prime Minister," it said in a statement.

The party also alleged "unholy alliances" of Congress, BJP and corporate houses on the issue of Vodafone retrospective tax.

Accusing BJP of "enthusiastically supporting" Congress on the issue, CPI said, "This proves that both Congress and BJP are fully in agreement on taking steps that will satisfy the corporate houses in the country."
