Finance nod from Delhi Govt awaited for Barapullah elevated

The Public Works Department is awaiting clearance from Expenditure Finance Committee of Delhi Government to begin the construction of an elevated road over Barapullah nallah here.

Principal Secretary of PWD, Arun Baroka today said that after obtaining all the statutory clearance and approval, preliminary estimate amounting to Rs 1285.64 crore has been submitted for Expenditure Sanction so that the construction work would start without any hurdle.

He said approval has also been given for the proposal to construct a bridge on Yamuna in the downstream of Nizamuddin Bridge in the Master Plan of Delhi, 2021.

In the notification of MPD-2021, the Ministry of Urban Development has suggested that this bridge should be constructed along the alignment of old Pontoon bridge.
 

Baroka said that an elevated corridor from Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium to Sarai Kale Khan over Barapullah Nallah has been constructed by PWD in 2010 under its phase one of construction.

Extension of this elevated road towards west up to Aurobindo Marg is also in progress under Phase two.
