The district administration today gave away cheques of Rs one lakh each to the next of kin of the 11 persons who lost their lives in the incident in which the retaining wall of a stone crusher collapsed at village Dholeda here.

A spokesman of the district administration of Narnaul said the deputy commissioner gave away these cheques under a scheme of Haryana Building and Other Construction Workers' Welfare Board.

Also, Rs 5 lakh each were given away by the Board to two labourers among them as they both were registered under the Board, at a prescribed fee and conditions and they also used to deposit some amount in their board account.

According to the conditions of the Board, if any labourer dies while being at work, Rs 5 lakh is awarded to his family members, he said.

This amount is separate from the financial assistance of Rs one lakh each given by the government and Rs 2 lakh each given under the Chief Minister's Relief Fund yesterday, he said.

Four persons have been arrested by the police in this case and whosoever is found guilty would invite stern action against him.
