Financial assistance to families of Home Guard personnel

Puducherry government today announced that a cash relief of Rs 25,000 would be given to the next of the kin of the Home Guard personnel dying in harness.

A sum of Rs 15,000 would be given to the personnel suffering injuries or disability while on duty or training and a relief of Rs 10,000 would be presented to the personnel in distress, a release of Home Department of Puducherry said.

A sum of Rs 25,000 would also be granted to enable the family to meet the expenditure of the marriage of daughters of the deceased or disabled home guards.

The widow of the Home Guard would be handed Rs 20,000 to enable her to launch self employment projects. The assistance would be available to the wife of the disabled home guard.
 

The government also encourages the Home Guards to participate in national sports and cultural events and Rs 5000 would be granted to the personnel, the release said.
