A couple from Kolsewadi in Kalyan town allegedly poisoned their two kids and also attempted suicide after getting fed up with serious financial crisis, the Kolsewadi police said here today.
The Kolsewadi police said that the incident took place shortly before 6.45 am this morning when they poisoned two of their children namely, six months old Gurumurthy and one-and-a-half year old Alberu, to death.
Later the couple attempted suicide at their residence in Hanuman Nagar locality in Kalian East, the police said.
The Kolsewadi police said that a case of accidental death has been registered and bodies of the two kids have been sent to the J J Hospital for postmortem.
Thane city police public relations inspector Gajanan Kabdule said that parents of the dead kids ar "out of danger".
The Kolsewadi police will take further action only after the postmortem report, he said.
