FIR against govt officer in disproportionate assets case

The Vigilance Department has lodged an FIR against a Vaishali District Welfare officer for allegedly amassing assets of Rs 1.44 crore disproportionate to his known sources of income by misusing his official position.

A vigilance release today said the FIR against the officer Anand Kumar was lodged yesterday.

Kumar owned a three-storeyed house worth Rs 30 lakh on Jagdeo Path area of Patna and a Rs 27 lakh flat in posh Kidwaipuri area of the state capital, the release said.

Among the other properties owned by Kumar and his wife are nine plots in Dhanaut and Punpun area of Patna district while the officer has owned three plots in his name in Ara.
 

Four teams of Vigilance department searched his house located in Gokulnagar, Lohiapath, Patna and his office in Vaishali district and found silver and gold jewellery worth Rs 1.50 lakh and documents of one flat each at Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar area and Greater Noida.
