against an MLA of the Indian Union Muslim League, a partner in the ruling Congress-led UDF, in connection with an alleged inflammatory speech he made recently.
MLA P K Basheer had allegedly delivered the speech at a public meeting at Kuni early this month, police said.
The FIR was registered against Basheer, elected from Ernad assembly constituency in Malappuram district, following a complaint from relatives of two persons who succumbed to injuries in hospital today after they were attacked by some persons at Kuni last night.
The victims, Kolakadan Aboobacker and his brother Azad, were accused in a murder case. Their relatives alleged that the murder was a result of the "inflammatory speech" made by the MLA.
Denying the allegation, Basheer said he was prepared to face any probe.
