Goa police today registered a case against a senior woman government official for allegedly giving false information to authorities concerned to obtain a piece of land in Sancoale village of south Goa.

Sheru Shirodkar, a Deputy Collector posted in south Goa, was booked by Margao Police.

Judicial Magistrate First Class in Margao town had this week ordered the local police to register an FIR against Shirodkar, based on the complaint filed by one John Philip Pereira.

In his complaint, Pereira had alleged that Shirodkar had given false information in an affidavit submitted to the Administrator of Communidade, south zone in Margao.

The complainant said that with the intention of obtaining a residential plot of land Shirodkar had falsely stated in the affidavit that she was landless.

Communidades are Portuguese-era institutions, which are community-based and own lands in the state.
