Police have registered an FIR against a private financier and his three family members in a case relating to seizure of over Rs 8.76 crore in cash, suspectedly meant to be used to woo voters during the April 17 Lok Sabha polls in the state.
The FIR had been registered yesterday at Gandhinagar police station against financer Babulal Parashuram Puria, his sons Ramesh and Sreekanth, and relative Vishal for possessing unaccounted money, police officials said.
Officials from district administration, Income Tax Department and Election Commission had on April 12 seized cash amounting to Rs 8.52 crore stored in two almirahs and Rs 8 crore worth National Savings Certificate (NSC) bonds from Babulal's house.

Besides, Rs 20.3 lakh was confiscated from offices of Babulal and Rs 4.3 lakh from his son's house.
The officials had also taken control of a godown belonging to him on the outskirts of Hospet town.
