A fire erupted at an automobiles shop in Chhattisgarh's Kanker district in which nearly 30 new motorcycles and other goods were reduced to ashes, police said today.
Fire brigade personnel managed to control the blaze after hectic efforts and averted a major tragedy as the Laxmi Automobiles shop, where the fire occurred at around midnight last night, is located near a petrol pump, Kanker Kotwali's police inspector Deenbandhu Uike said.
The blaze was apparently caused by a short-circuit, he said.
Automobile goods worth lakhs of rupees are estimated to have been gutted in the fire, he added.
