A fire broke out at the branch of a private bank here today, but there were no casualties as all staff and customers were evacuated in time, police said.
Bank staff and customers noticed thick smoke emanating from an air conditioner, which quickly engulfed the entire premises. Fire service personnel were informed and all of them were evacuated, they said.
The blaze was doused within half an hour, police said
Bank officials said cash and other documents had not been damaged in the fire which was believed to have occurred of a short circuit.
